What started as a temporary job ended up being my career. My name is Derek Olivo, and at the age of seventeen, I was blessed with the opportunity to start my journey in this amazing industry. I started as a heavy- and light-gauge metal framer in Washington, D.C., and upon taking a course on Blueprint Reading and Estimating, I started seeking exposure and grew into other roles, such as Lead Guy, Layout Technician, Assistant Foreman, Foreman, and multi-trade Superintendent, where I oversaw multiple scopes of work, such as Floor Plan Slab/Deck Layouts, Interior Light- and Exterior Heavy-Gauge Metal Framing, Exterior Sheathing, Weather Barrier Systems, Suspended Ceiling Systems, Mineral Wool and Rigid Insulation, Drywall, Finishes and Textures, Plastering, Wall Coverings/Wallpapers, Interior and Exterior Paint, Finish Carpentry and Specialties, Acoustical Sealants and Air Seals, and Construction Cleaning. At its peak, I was directly responsible for over a hundred and seventy top-notch workers, plus second-tier Subcontractors, and it was time for me to move on and learn something new.

I took an opportunity to work for a Design-Build Corporation and later a General Contractor, where I fulfilled various Superintendent roles, overseeing Specialty Trade Contractors, such as Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection Systems, Roofing, Site and Building Concrete, Masonry, Metal Fabrications, Rough Carpentry, Thermal and Moisture Protections, Siding, Doors, Windows, Cabinets, Countertops, Shower Doors, Blinds, Appliances, and Elevators Installations, amongst other.

A few years after, I have continued learning and seeking growth in this industry, and now I seek to expand my opportunities by providing my help to others and applying my experience, expertise, and lessons learned every step of the way, during our available hours of operation.
